Corrections and review

Policy edition · July 2026

The record should be right.

Material errors are examined against evidence and corrected openly. A correction does not depend on a commercial relationship.

01

How to report an error

Send the exact page address, identify the statement at issue, explain the proposed correction and provide dated supporting evidence. First-hand assertions should identify the person able to confirm them and their authority to do so.

Requests may be made by a subject, reader or representative. A commercial client has no preferential route and no charge is made to correct a substantiated error.

02

How changes are described

Correction
A material factual error has been amended and the substance of the change is recorded.
Clarification
The original material was not factually wrong, but additional wording is needed to prevent a material misunderstanding.
Update
The underlying circumstances changed after publication. The earlier record was accurate at the time.
Editor’s note
A significant matter concerning the reporting, evidence or publication history requires a fuller explanation.
03

Directory, Verify and Best 100 records

A hotel or restaurant profile may be updated when identity, location, operating status or another material fact changes. Historical annual information is not silently rewritten to reflect a later condition.

A GEM, Fork or Anchor distinction may be reviewed when evidence suggests that the published scope, identity or operating condition has materially changed. A Best 100 result is amended only for a substantiated factual or procedural error—not because a subject disagrees with editorial judgement.

04

Review and appeal

A person directly affected by a Verify decision may request review by identifying the requirement said to have been applied incorrectly and supplying evidence that existed, or should reasonably have been considered, at the relevant time.

Repeated submissions that add no material evidence do not reopen a concluded review. Legal notices and urgent safety concerns should be clearly identified in the subject line.
