01 · Purpose

A record of the whole restaurant

The restaurant framework begins with the cooking, then asks whether the voice, hospitality and present-day record make the proposition complete.

The World’s Best Fork rating uses One, Two and Three levels under a category-specific standard. It gives readers a reasoned account of the restaurant and remains separate from the annual Best 100 ranking.

A neighbourhood dining room and a formal destination restaurant may both belong. Each is considered in the form appropriate to its intent, under the same rules of evidence and independence.

The cooking must persuade. The record must sustain what is said.

02 · Eligibility

What enters the research field

  1. 01

    A resolvable identity

One current name, address, concept and operating restaurant must be established.

  2. 02

    Cooking is the principal experience

Bars, clubs, hotels and mixed venues enter only when the restaurant is a distinct, bookable proposition.

  3. 03

    A current evidence file

Stale reputation cannot substitute for present-day facts and relevant independent reporting.

  4. 04

    No inherited standing

Fame, price, scarcity, ownership, media reach and previous recognition carry no automatic advantage.

03 · The Complete Table

Four views. One editorial record.

These areas support a consistent review without turning an internal assessment into a public badge.

  1. 01Cooking leads

    The Plate

Ingredient intent, technical command, menu architecture and consistency across the current culinary record.

  2. 02Identity and place

    The Voice

Authorship, culture, regional integrity and a point of view that extends beyond novelty or borrowed prestige.

  3. 03Hospitality and rhythm

    The Experience

Service, beverage, room, comfort, pacing and the relationship between the setting and the meal.

  4. 04Currency and continuity

    The Record

Current operation, leadership, material change, integrity of claims and the ability to keep the restaurant’s promise.

04 · Evidence

Strong claims require a strong file

Every source has a role. First-party facts, independent reporting and direct observation are identified rather than blended into one voice.

Current facts

Official menus, booking channels and restaurant statements establish present identity, service and claims. They are treated as first-party facts, not independent praise.

Independent reporting

Credible professional sources test execution, hospitality and continuity. Syndicated reports and repeated press material are counted once.

Direct observation

Where an editor or commissioned contributor visits, the date and material hosting arrangement are recorded. No visit is implied when none occurred.

Contradictions

Material conflict over leadership, operation, address, safety or current quality pauses publication until the record can be resolved responsibly.

05 · Governance

What protects the record

Editorial judgement remains independent, commercially separated and open to factual correction.

01

Editorial sign-off

Research supports the decision; an editor resolves the published account and remains accountable for its language.

02

Commercial separation

Advertising, licensing, invitations and partner work do not buy entry, favourable treatment or protection from correction.

03

Conflicts and recusal

Material employment, ownership, consultancy, investment or personal ties require disclosure and recusal.

04

No geographic quotas

Context informs the reading of a restaurant; it does not reserve places or lower the evidence standard.

05

Change and maintenance

A new chef, address, concept or ownership can trigger a new review and a revised Fork rating record.

06

Corrections

Material factual errors are reviewed against the file and corrected. Editorial disagreement remains distinct from factual error.
