Mashpi Lodge

One hundred kilometres north-west of Quito, Mashpi Lodge rests at 950 metres within a private cloud-forest reserve. Expedition leaders and naturalist guides accompany excursions into the surrounding ecosystem, turning the lodge into a base for close, informed encounters with the Andean Chocó. Its conservation work protects 3,200 hectares, restores another 2,284 with native trees and supports research that has identified 26 new species.
